WEEK 35: MATCH

Hello old friends,

Autumn has sunken in and I’ve fallen in love. that’s right kids, pumpkin flavoring is back in season. Bread, lattes, pancakes; you name it - it has been in my belly. I blame an old friend for showing me the life-altering combination of dipping pumpkin bread in pumpkin coffee. i’ve been hooked ever since.

WEEK 35: WATCH VIDEO HERE (it looks like it’s an add because it technically is one!)

This week’s release comes in form of video media. A few weeks back a friend of ours contacted us about a videographer friend that was doing a public service announcement about organ donors. He was looking for a song about the subject and asked us to write one for the commercial. We both have been personally affected by the need of a healthy donor, so there wasn’t a doubt in our mind whether or not we should take on this project. Our mother (featured here) has lived with diabetes for over 20 years now. She’s been on dialysis for the past 5. For those of you who are familiar with dialysis:

“dialysis is a process for removing waste and excess water from the blood, and is primarily used to provide an artificial replacement for lost kidney function in people with renal failure (you said it best, wiki).”

Basically, our mother’s kidneys don’t work and therefore has to be attached to a machine 3 days a week for 3.5 hour sessions where they suck her blood out of her system, clean it, and put it back in. It’s taken toll on her body and often times leaves her very weak and very sick. The only way to get off of dialysis (for her at least) is to receive a new kidney. As of the moment she is currently not well enough to receive a new organ, but eventually she will need one.

It’s insane how many of these stories like ours exist - there are over 100,000 people on the organ donor list currently in the United States alone and 1 donor can save up to 8 people lives. It’s a SUPER easy process to become a donor and has no negative effects on you (not to be morbid, but when you’re dead, someone else will use your organs much more than you ever will, you know?).

It’s so easy and so needed  and I feel it’s just one of those subjects that people are not informed of. IT’S JUST SO EASY TO BE AN ORGAN DONOR - all you need is your license number! CLICK HERE TO BECOME ONE

As for the song itself, we wrote/recorded it in less than a two hour period. It’s crazy how fast this one flew out. I guess it’s always easier to write about things that are close to home, you know?

The commercial airs on a bunch of cable networks (can’t remember which ones right now) so keep an eye out for it!

**ALSO - A few of you may be wondering why we’ve been MIA for the month of october. You may think we’ve given up on our dreams of releasing 52 songs in 1 year. You may think we’re hypocrites that don’t care about anyone anymore and have given up on creating art in general. FALSE. we’ve been missing from the internet for the month of july to gear up for our biggest (and we think most impressive) release yet. This project has been years in the making. I’m very excited and very proud of this piece. I can’t wait to have all of you experience it //// info/video to be announced this monday //// expect something major, friends.
